Terms of Service
Effective date: July 16, 2026
Who we are
Prunekit is operated by its developer as an individual based in British Columbia, Canada ("Prunekit", "we"). Contact: derek@prunekit.com.
What Prunekit is
Prunekit is an API for software companies. It schedules data deletion obligations, notifies your systems by webhook when deletion is due, records your confirmations, and produces signed audit records of the process. Prunekit never receives, stores, or deletes your customers' personal data. Your systems perform every deletion.
Prunekit is an early-stage service and is currently provided free of charge.
Accepting these terms
By creating an organization or using the API, you accept these terms on behalf of the business you represent. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Your account and API keys
You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep your contact email current, since we deliver service notices there. API keys grant full access to your organization. You are responsible for keeping keys and webhook secrets confidential and for all activity performed with them. If a key is compromised, revoke it through the API immediately.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Prunekit to break the law, to probe or disrupt the service or other users, to circumvent rate limits, or to misrepresent Prunekit's records as something they are not. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
What Prunekit does and does not do
Prunekit records what your systems report. When you confirm a deletion, that confirmation is your attestation, and Prunekit's reports present it as such. Prunekit does not independently verify that data was deleted, does not provide legal advice, and does not by itself make you compliant with PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25, GDPR, CCPA, or any other law. You remain responsible for your own compliance obligations and for the accuracy of what you confirm.
Availability and changes
The service is provided as is and as available, with no uptime commitment. We may change or discontinue features. For material changes to the API or these terms, or for discontinuation of the service, we will give registered organizations at least 30 days' notice by email. Your data export remains available throughout any notice period.
Your data
The records you create in Prunekit (entities, policies, jobs, audit logs, reports) belong to your organization. You can export all of it at any time through the API, free of charge. You can delete your organization at any time, which removes your records from the service.
Intellectual property
Prunekit and its software, documentation, and branding belong to its operator. These terms give you no rights in them beyond using the service. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: the service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or regulatory penalties, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to CAD $100. You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the service or your breach of these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your organization at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms as described above. Export your data before deleting your organization; deletion is permanent.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
